Rogue and Warlock: Official Class Deep Dives
Checked: 2026-10-07 · International
Rogue poisons, Sap and axes; Warlock Banes, stat-scaling pets and three reworked talent trees.
Published October 7 at 22:00 UTC. Blizzard notes that abilities and talents may still change during the Beta; the shared talent schedule matches the Mage and Shaman deep dive.
Rogue poisons gain more charges and stack with temporary weapon enchantments. Sap no longer breaks Stealth, Feint reduces twice as much threat, and Distract also lowers Stealth detection for 10 seconds. Expose Armor now matches five Sunder Armor applications and no longer blocks Sunder Armor. Rogues can learn one-handed axes.
Assassination adds Mutilate at 21 points, which requires two daggers, and Venom, a 31-point finisher that strengthens poisons. Cold Blood moves to 16 points and Vigor becomes a row-5 talent. Combat adds Flawless Execution at 16 points and Hack and Slash, which merges the weapon specializations and adds axes. Subtlety moves Premeditation to 16 points, adds Quietus and Cutthroat, and ends with Thousand Cuts; Sleight of Hand and Deadliness are removed.
Curse of Agony and Curse of Doom become Banes, limited to one per Warlock on each target. Curse of the Elements covers all magic damage, and Curse of Shadows is removed. Firestone and Spellstone become weapon imbues that stack with oils. Life Tap scales with Spirit, Drain Soul’s Soul Shard chance rises each tick until it succeeds, and pets scale with the Warlock’s stats.
Demonology reworks Demonic Sacrifice as the 11-point medal, moves Fel Domination to 16 and Soul Link to 21, and adds Demonic Pact at 31 so a sacrifice persists when another demon is summoned. Destruction moves Conflagrate to 16 points and adds Bane of Havoc at 21 and Incinerate at 31. Destructive Reach now affects all damaging spells.
The published Affliction list repeats the Shaman Elemental Combat entries, so this summary omits it. Talents shows the Affliction tree from the site’s recorded client build. That build also places the Rogue, Demonology and Destruction medals above at their announced thresholds.
